In Year 4 classroom, a unique learning journey is quietly unfolding. This unit, the children will embark on a fantastical voyage through time, delving into the worlds of the ancient Celts and Romans. It's a segment of history brimming with mystery and allure, where the children will gain a deep understanding of the fascinating aspects of these two cultures.

During this journey, the children will explore a series of exciting topics. They will learn about the brave battles of gladiators, understand the importance of shields in combat, and discover how the Romans used different military formations to achieve victory. To bring history to life, the teachers have meticulously designed a series of interactive activities. By crafting weapons of the era with their own hands, the children establish a close connection with that time. Using cardboard, paint, and boundless imagination, they design and create their own shields. Some shields are adorned with fierce snake patterns, symbolizing strength and courage; others are decorated with intricate geometric designs, reflecting the discipline and order of the Roman army. As they craft, the children feel as though they have traveled back to that ancient era, becoming brave warriors themselves. When the children lift their handmade shields, their faces beam with pride and anticipation, as if ready to face the upcoming "battle."

Finally, the "battle" commences! The competition kicks off between classes 4G and 4N. The teachers ingeniously blend ancient shield combat with modern dodgeball, creating a new set of game rules. As the game begins, the children quickly get into the spirit, freely changing formations. Some form offensive lines, wielding "weapons" to launch fierce attacks on the opponents; others form defensive lines, linking their shields tightly to block the "attacks." The atmosphere on the field is tense yet lively, with the sounds of shields clashing, laughter, and cheers intermingling. Every child is fully immersed, as if they have truly become warriors on an ancient battlefield, brave and fearless.

Through this extraordinary "battle," the children not only deeply experience the content of this unit but also enhance their team cohesion and collaborative skills through the game. We firmly believe that allowing children to interact with history in creative and meaningful ways will fill them with more curiosity and excitement in their learning. This "battle" is not just a game but an unforgettable learning experience, allowing children to learn in joy and grow in cooperation. Charge forward, warriors!
