It's Jungle in Here
Author:Ms Heather
The 2020-2021 school year has brought many changes for Green Oasis School. We have said goodbye to our secondary and middle school students as they have moved on to their own campuses and we have expanded our primary focus here at the GOS campus. With this expansion came an exciting opportunity to also expand the library!
So this year, we have split the library in two.
We have moved the KS1 materials upstairs to a brand new KS1 Reading Castle full of magic and wonder that is inspiring our youngest readers to engage with books in an interesting and imaginative way.
Reading Jungle
The old library downstairs has been transformed into a Reading Jungle especially for the KS2 students. They can explore, be creative, relax, and enjoy reading in a comfortable and cozy atmosphere. We are also looking to create a more research friendly library and will be updating the Reading Jungle with some laptops in the near future. It is our hope to make the library a student-focused learning center that the children enjoy visiting and in which they enjoy spending their time.
Reading Jungle
With the Grand Opening of both the KS1 Reading Castle and the KS2 Reading Jungle, the students have been given an orientation on how to use both new spaces and be productive in each. They have been given guidance on using their shelf markers to help keep their reading rooms organized and tidy. But, most importantly of all, they have had a chance to explore their new reading rooms and read the books. Most of the students have their library cards and are now allowed to check out books.
Thank you to everyone for a wonderful new beginning. We are looking forward to an amazing and magical in the library this year!
